Australia’s most iconic outback event – the Birdsville Races – is seeking sponsors for its 136th edition, which runs 31 August – 1 September 2018.

Attracting more than 7,000 visitors across two days of thoroughbred racing -competition and with an economic impact in excess of $7 million annually, the Birdsville Races is a bucket list item for many Australian and international travelers, as well as one of Australia’s most publicised outback events – both nationally and internationally.

The event’s unique desert setting attracts race-goers from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, who travel by chartered planes, 4WDs and tour buses to take part in the much-loved two-day festival.

Set in the tiny town of Birdsville on the edge of the Diamantina River, the event has been running since 1882 and now reaches widespread audiences across digital, television, print and radio.

The event boasts a 13-race program, a charity fun run for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Fashions on the Field, as well as a jam-packed schedule of outback entertainment and activities – including gourmet trackside dining, cocktail parties and public movie screenings.

In 2018, the Birdsville Races is working with Beyond the Break Consulting to develop new sponsorship packages and offerings for corporates and brands wanting to partner with this iconic event.

Gary Brook, Vice President of the Birdsville Race Club, says 2018 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years in the event’s long history, presenting new and previously untapped opportunities for potential partner brands and sponsors.

“Businesses and brands which have synergies with community spirit, iconic Australiana and a diverse group of event-goers, would see a lot of value in partnering with this event,” Gary Brook said.

“More than just a two-day race meet, the Birdsville Races is a week-long festival that celebrates Outback Queensland and offers brands the chance to have direct engagement with visitors from both metro and rural areas,” he said.

Brook said the Birdsville Races provide brands with unique leveraging opportunities in a dynamic event environment.

“This event attracts attendees from major capital cities as well as rural Australia – it is a melting pot of worlds that comes together to deliver a quintessential Aussie experience,” Brook added.

“Across the two days, the whole town and its attendees take part in the major races as well as a range of auxiliary events around the event, providing a full two days of leveraging opportunities for the right brands.

“In addition to branding recognition and leveraging, there is a range of corporate hospitality events ideal for sponsors and corporates looking for a different type of business networking opportunities,” Brook concluded.
