Last night Accor’s MGallery Collection launched the first of nine ‘In Conversation’ events in conjunction with The Wheeler Centre at Mount Lofty House in Adelaide.
L-R: Favel Parrett with Michael Wheeler
The event was attended by Adelaide Hills locals and guests of the hotel and Michael Williams, Managing Director of The Wheeler Centre compared the evening and led the conversation with author Favel Parrett, speaking in depth about her new book, When The Night Comes.
While guests enjoyed a selection of the Barossa Valley’s finest wine and cheese, the evening consisted of wonderful prose on Favel’s journey as a writer and the places she had to go to come up with her gripping characters.

Speaking on the relationship between MGallery and The Wheeler Centre, Michael said “Working with MGallery just seemed like such a natural fit as the unique stories each of the MGallery hotels marries perfectly with our writers. For years now we have been saying to hotels they should look into writers in residence programs but no one was really doing it. To have MGallery come on board, with hotels around Australia, it is a real coup for our industry and the Literary Collection program is one we hope to continue for years to come.”
Favel will now reside at Mount Lofty House for three days and will write a short story inspired by her stay. The Literary Collection of short stories will be published into an edition de luxe, and released as an epilogue to the collaboration, exclusively for all MGallery Collection hotels in Australia.
The next In Conversation event will be held at The New Inchcolm Hotel & Suites in Brisbane on Sunday 3 May. For more information and to purchase tickets, head to www.accorhotels.com.au/literarycollection
