The Myconian Collection – it’s a family affair!

Vangelis Daktylides, who is the General Manager of the Myconian Ambassador Hotel, says for increasing numbers of travellers, the idea of luxury is changing. “Luxury can no longer be conveyed by exclusivity, precision and aesthetics alone. To experience the real thing, you need to encounter family connectedness and a shared ethos,” he said.

“Right from the beginning, The Myconian Collection has been a family affair,” said Vangelis. “When our father opened his first hotel, our mother made breakfasts for our guests, did their laundry and cleaned their rooms, while we helped set tables and serve meals, which enabled us to gain first-hand experience of the family trade.”

“We offer butler and chauffeur services, private island-wide transfers, champagne on arrival – even donkey rides to the beach for a romantic sunset dinner. We’ve spent decades fine tuning our own blend of exceptional service and good old-fashioned Greek hospitality, which is at the heart of both the Myconian Collection – and Mykonos itself,” Vangelis added.

These days, the Daktylides brothers are sharing the island’s strong local identify, and their heritage, with a new generation of guests, both through their commitment to outstanding personalised service, and their promise to nurture relationships with local producers, to share a true taste of Mykonos with hotel guests.

“Our restaurants are renowned for the paddock-to-plate culture founded by my father George, with chefs creating dishes using lamb and pork hand-reared on our family’s land, octopus caught exclusively for our chefs (and our own family) by one of the island’s most famous fisherman, Panagiotis, and vegetables and herbs grown right here in Mykonos,” said Vangelis.
