FEATURED EVENT

Fort Ross – Seaview Wine Festival adds cheese tasting event
This is the second year for the Fort Ross Seaview Wine Festival, which offers a grand tasting of wines from the area and a luncheon created by a group of well-respected chefs. This year the event adds a cheese sampling with local expert, Omar Mueller.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets and information are available at www.fortross-seaview.org/events.

Mueller, who owns the Freestone Artisan Cheese Shop and produces his own cheese, will present cheeses at the grand tasting during the wine festival. The tasting will also feature Fort Ross-Seaview growers and wineries that source grapes from within the wine region (or AVA). The luncheon is a four-course culinary experience served on a marine terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Four of Sonoma County’s top chefs will each prepare a course:

  • John Ash, chef and James Beard award-winning author
  • Barbara Hom, executive chef Fort Ross Vineyard
  • Richard Whipple, executive chef Sea Ranch Lodge
  • Marianna Gardenhire, pastry chef-proprietor Backyard, Forestville

The Fort Ross Seaview Wine Festival takes place at Fort Ross State Historic Park during the annual Fort Ross Harvest Festival. The Harvest Festival is a family-friendly day spent outdoors celebrating old-world seasonal abundance through song, dance, and crafts. Both events come together to showcase the abundance of what Fort Ross has to offer.
