Richard Morgan has been a successful member of the Hyatt family for over 35 years, working in hotel operations as well as managing several Hyatt Regency hotels throughout the country, including Hyatt Regency Savannah, Hyatt Regency Baltimore, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort & Casino, and Hyatt Regency O’Hare. He was also vice president and managing director of the 1400-room Grand Hyatt New York during its $70 million renovation.

In his new position with the Hyatt Times Square, Morgan is responsible for overseeing all hotel operations, personnel, business development, guest relations and revenue management at Hyatt Times Square.

Morgan previously served as the senior vice president of field operations for the Hyatt Place group of hotels. He was part of the creation of Hyatt Place from its initial purchase of AmeriSuites then Summerfield Suites from Wyndham and was responsible for developing the hotel culture, rebranding hotels acquired and overseeing all creative aspects of this new brand.  Today there are 166 Hyatt Place Hotels and 54 Hyatt House Hotels in 40 states.

Morgan graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. He has been recognized with several awards during his career including Department Head of the Year from Hyatt Regency San Francisco, Hotelier of the Year from the Hotel Association of Illinois and the Donald N. Pritzker Award for General Manager of the Year from Hyatt Hotels.

Klair Johnston, Director of Sales and Marketing

Klair Johnston brings 15 years of award-winning hospitality experience to the Hyatt Times Square.  Johnston will leverage her results-driven skills to lead a 5-member sales team and coordinate all facets of sales and marketing strategies for the new luxury hotel.

Johnston began her Hyatt career as Associate Director of Sales at Hyatt Regency Baltimore.  In that time, she was instrumental in guiding the sales team to the fourth highest production in the history of the hotel in 2011. She also worked closely with new team members to train them on Hyatt brand culture, initiatives and standards. These successes readied her for her next role as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hyatt Fairfax in 2012.

Prior to joining Hyatt in 2009, Johnston worked as Associate Director of Sales for IHG handling both the Group and Transient segments. She maintained day-to-day operations of the sales team while managing key accounts and markets. In addition to her primary role in the hotel, Johnston served as Supplier Director for the North Texas Chapter of SGMP (Society of Government Meeting Professionals).

Johnston is a graduate of Texas A & M University with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. She has received many awards including Sales & Marketing Employee of the Year from the Maryland Hotel & Lodging Association, 2009 Sales Team of the Year from Hyatt Regency Baltimore and the Hyatt Elite Performer Award.

“Klair and I are excited to be involved with the concept, construction and launch of new Hyatt Times Square,” said Richard Morgan. “We look forward to enhancing Hyatt’s brand awareness in New York’s most iconic neighborhood and ensuring that our guests receive an unparalleled experience that is personal, comfortable and welcoming.”

The opening of Hyatt Times Square marks the seventh Hyatt property in New York City. Designed to meet the needs of business and leisure travelers in the heart of Times Square, the hotel offers comfortable sophistication with city-themed public spaces and stylishly designed accommodations. Hyatt Times Square’s ideal location puts travelers just minutes from some of New York City’s most popular landmarks and attractions.
