The international non-profit initiative The Other Hundred invites the Hong Kong public to its first global exhibition of the newly released photojournalism book The Other Hundred Educators. Step into a world beyond teaching stereotypes and atop school ranking lists to discover the most unconventional, inspiring educators from 95 different countries who rarely make the headlines. A selection of the most breath-taking and inspiring photo-stories will be displayed, at the free public exhibition at Hysan Place Atrium in Causeway Bay from 24 May to 28 May, 2017.

“These real-life photo-stories challenge the common understanding of education and open the eyes and minds for the hidden heroes of today – those dedicated men and women who pioneer unique ways of passing on their knowledge and contributing to the society without seeking any special acknowledgement for their work”, says Chandran Nair, Founder and CEO of the Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT) and the Hong Kong originated non-profit project The Other Hundred.

With more than 20 events and exhibitions worldwide, and over 100,000 visitors in France, UAE, UK, Austria, Singapore and Hong Kong, the exhibition is an inspiring experience for the audience to explore the richness and cultural diversity of the world through the exceptional connection of photographic art and community. The carefully selected, high-quality photo-show features the most unique 26 stories from 100 in the photo book, alongside texts in English and Chinese.

The photo-stories bring to Hong Kong valuable, unorthodox teaching methods that are often times more profound than those found at formal institutions. Educators that are celebrated in the exhibition come from widely varying walks of life, such as the oral history teller from Gambia, the ballet dancers of Havana, or the film director from Kathmandu valley.

The Other Hundred Educators is the third edition of The Other Hundred, published by Oneworld Publications in London, and now available for sale for individual purchase in bookstores worldwide and Amazon, and bulk purchase on the website In Hong Kong,The Other Hundred Educators is available in Bookazine bookstores.
