The Peninsula Chicago celebrates the holiday season with Sky Rink and Christmas Day Brunch

December 15, 2017 Luxury Hotels No Comments Email Email

Luxury offers, timeless traditions and festive dining provide reasons to visit The Windy City.

The holidays are nothing short of spectacular at The Peninsula Chicago, with delicious cuisine, festive décor, joyful celebrations, a visit from Santa and Peter Bear and The Peninsula Sky Rink’s seasonal return – all providing the perfect backdrop for this festive season.

The Peninsula Sky Rink

The Peninsula Sky Rink has opened for its sixth season. The 2,100 sq ft (200 sq m) hybrid rink is the only hotel skating rink in Chicago and debuted in December 2012. Perched above Chicago’s bustling Michigan Avenue, The Terrace is the ideal setting for the hotel’s skating rink. Surrounded by Chicago’s skyscrapers and twinkling lights, the rink is tucked into a pine tree winter wonderland and bathed in festive music and snowflake lighting. All monies collected include skate rental (US$ 15 for adults and US$ 10 for children 12 and under) and are donated to two Chicago children’s charities: Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and Hephzibah Children’s Association.

 Christmas Day Brunch

Celebrate Christmas with an elaborate brunch buffet in The Lobby. The exquisite Christmas Day Brunch features a variety of carved meats, a grand seafood buffet station, sushi and sashimi, charcuterie and cheeses, and a dim sum station. Eggnog, hot chocolate and a vast array of sweets including crêpes, macarons and pastries will be presented for dessert. Entertainment includes a live string quartet, a children’s lounge and a magician for young patrons, and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus under The Lobby’s magnificent tree. The Lobby will offer three seatings from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. The cost is US$ 185 per adult and US$ 55 for children 12 years and under. (Prices do not include tax and gratuity).

New Year’s Eve Celebration

Dance the night away and ring in 2018 at The Peninsula Chicago’s black and white gala. Dressed in festive cocktail attire (black tie optional), guests will enjoy a five-course dinner while celebrating with the sounds of pop band ‘LUVU’ performing in The Lobby.  As midnight approaches, guests will ring in the New Year with a balloon drop, midnight Champagne toast, dancing and revelry. Dinner and dancing is US$ 225 per person, prices do not include tax and gratuity. Meanwhile, The Bar will be open with no cover charge serving classic libations, creative elixirs, and seasonal cocktails in front of the roaring fireplace. Shanghai Terrace will be open serving a celebratory prix fixe menu on top of the traditional à la carte offerings.
