The Peninsula Chicago Introduces Unique Opportunity To Experience Vincent Van Gogh’s Bedroom With Private Tour
Vincent Van Gogh’s painting of his bedroom in Arles is arguably the most famous chambre in the history of art – so important was this composition that Van Gogh made three distinct versions and considered it his finest painting.
With a special programme in partnership with the Art Institute of Chicago, guests of The Peninsula Chicago can now experience in privacy the serenity and peace of the artist’s bedroom and to be able to see and feel exactly what inspired Van Gogh, by themselves without any other museum visitors. For the first time in North America, all three versions of the painting will be united in an exhibition titled Van Gogh’s Bedrooms at the Art Institute of Chicago. Opening on February 14, 2016, and closing on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016, this is the first-ever exhibition dedicated to the bedroom paintings, presenting an in-depth study of documentary, scientific, and physical evidence pertaining to all three versions, together with over 30 other works by Van Gogh, including the landscape views he painted from his bedroom window.
A digitally enhanced reconstruction of his bedroom allows visitors the chance to experience the physical reality of the space that so inspired him, while other enriching digital components bring to light significant recent scientific research on the three Bedroom paintings. Continuing its close relationship with the Art Institute, The Peninsula Chicago’s special Keys to the City experience for US$ 1,500* grants hotel guests the following: · private access (for up to 10 guests) to the museum prior to opening or after closing with a private guided tour of the Van Gogh’s Bedrooms exhibition · a curator-signed catalogue· transportation to and from the venue · special welcome amenity from the hotel *excludes hotel guestroom accommodations This special experience represents an ideal way for guests to be inspired by Van Gogh’s bedroom and then to transport themselves to the new guest room experience at The Peninsula Chicago, for a highly unique and interactive experience featuring progressive advanced tablet-based technology allowing the guest room to be transformed into any one of 11 languages, plus soothing luxurious décor and thoughtful design.
