True to its origins and to the tradition of The Peninsula Hotels, The Peninsula Paris is jointly celebrating Chinese New Year with The Peninsula Shanghai.

The Paris establishment will be decked out in red for three weeks, giving local guests and international travellers the opportunity to discover the best of Asia, right in the heart of the City of Light.

A culinary voyage full of flavour at LiLi

At its gourmet Cantonese restaurant, LiLi, decorated in a style inspired by Chinese opera, guests will be charmed by the beauty of traditional art, whilst savouring refined Cantonese dishes. The star guest, Chef Chi Keung Tang, from The Peninsula Shanghai’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Yi Long Court, is creating two special menus for Paris, providing a feast for the eyes and the palate with his culinary expertise. With his New Year’s Eve, eight-course “Eight Flavours of the Peony Pavilion” menu, regarded as a lucky number in China, and his “Special Selection” menu, Chef Tang reveals dishes full of authenticity: By combining locally sourced, fresh French produce of the highest quality, with typical Hong Kong specialities such as abalone, Western guests will be able to discover the full richness and palette of flavours offered by Cantonese cuisine,” he explains. At the end of the meal, to round off this culinary experience, diners will be offered delicious confectionery and the essential lai cee_– lucky red envelope  revealing a gourmet chocolate coin.

On Chinese New Year’s Eve, 15 February, there will be a special programme for guests to enjoy: a traditional Water Sleeve dance display, associated with Chinese theatre, that is both poetic and dreamlike, followed by the essential Lion Dance with live music accompaniment, allowing them to spend an evening immersed in the world of the Celestial Empire.

Chinese New Year celebrations will also take place throughout the hotel: a real cultural marathon to mark the start of the New Year.

A second Lion Dance display will be held on 16 February on the Terrasse Kléber, which will be lit up in red by traditional lanterns. This dance, a simultaneous representation of art, theatre and kung-fu, to the accompaniment of firecrackers, will bring luck and prosperity to all our guests.

A cultural voyage through the haute couture eyes of the photographer Annie Leibowitz

From 1 February to 21 February, The Peninsula Paris invites guests and visitors alike to discover The Peninsula Hotels through the works of the celebrated photographer, Annie Leibowitz. Leibowitz turned her lens behind the scenes at the hotels, thus immortalising the most striking Peninsula moments, combining glamour and photojournalism in her own distinctive style for a campaign in 2004 and 2009. 12 extraordinary black and white photographs will be on display in the public areas of the hotel.

A wellness voyage, where East meets West

The Peninsula Spa, the capital’s largest luxury hotel spa, stretching over 1800 sq m, extends a true invitation to wellness, serenity and refinement. For a unique and unprecedented guest experience, over three weeks of festivities, it is inviting Tony Wu, the star therapist from The Peninsula Shanghai, to allow Parisians the benefit of his expertise, based on the traditional techniques of Chinese medicine. The Peninsula Spa offers the perfect combination of the French art of beauty and the ancient expertise of Asian medicine.

The guests will discover the After Party skincare with CHA LING L’Esprit du Thé : the perfect embodiment of The Peninsula Paris philosophy, CHA LING – the Sino-French luxury cosmetics house

from the LVMH Group which entered the Spa last June, proposes a special “Detoxifying & Revitalizing experience” post-Chinese New Year’s Eve with its Skin Infusion ( the fragrant steam, packed with active ingredients from Pu’Er tea deeply purifies and treats the skin) associated with the new Winter Mask that boasts a cashmere texture with a comforting and regenerating effect. The must-have skin-saving protocol!

Lastly, The Peninsula Paris is joining forces with La Maison Baccarat and Printemps to ensure our Chinese guests enjoy a truly wonderful time.

A thoughtful gift chosen with care by Baccarat

To celebrate the Year of the Dog, Baccarat will surprise our Suites guests with a special attention that will make this new year memorable.

During the Golden Week, from 5 February to 21 February, the secret Chef Table of the fine-dining Cantonese restaurant LiLi will be dressed by the precious red and clear crystal of the legendary Maison Baccarat. In this refined scenography, guests will discover a unique menu, perfectly combining the subtlety of Asian flavours with the elegance of local and seasonal French products. Exceptional cuisine and the best seats in the house are hallmarks of this prestigious behind-the-scenes VIP dining experience. Privileged groups of up to six diners can watch the Chef and his skilled kitchen team from close quarters as they prepare a sumptuous Cantonese feast to delight all the senses.

An elegant and exclusively Parisian shopping spree with Printemps

Guests will be escorted by a dedicated chauffeur to the intimate atmosphere of the legendary department store’s private lounge, where a Chinese-speaking expert stylist will introduce them to limited editions and unique pieces by the most sought-after Parisian designers of the moment. Having indulged in a unique shopping experience accompanied by a glass of Champagne, they will also benefit from an express tax deduction service.
