New Zealand has just turned the world upside down in a new map – and we can reveal an exclusive photo that shows Tourism New Zealand’s #getNZonthemap campaign is working.

The light-hearted campaign features an investigation into why the country is missed off world maps.

How do you solve a problem like that? Take a Prime Minister, a global rock star, a Kiwi comedian and a Hollywood director, create a new map and put yourself at the centre of it.

New Zealand has launched an amusing follow-up video to check in on conspiracy theorist Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) and his attempt to solve the mystery of the maps. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, film director Peter Jackson and singer Ed Sheeran join the celebrity line-up working on the case.

And finally, here’s the photo which shows New Zealand is creeping back onto to the world maps.

Taken recently in the Czech Republic, it shows a detail of a giant map of the world, inlaid into the floor at Václav Havel Airport in Prague.

New Zealand is there. Yay!

Hang on a minute. There’s just one problem. Stewart Island, which lies at the bottom of the South Island, has vanished. That’s like leaving Tassie off the map of Australia. Uh-oh.
