The Power of TravelManagers’ Logo Means Mum Makes Sale While Monitoring Kids Skate

A personal travel manager who had opted to work to the local skating rink while they watched their children do laps, ended up making a sale to another mum.

Valerie Galanou representative for TravelManagers at Doncaster East in Victoria made the sale after another mother noticed the TravelManagers logo embroidered on the back of her jacket.

“I love that TravelManagers lets us be creative when it comes to marketing our businesses and provides marketing guidelines to assist us and ensure brand consistency,” explains Galanou. “My jacket is what attracted this mum to come and ask me if she could pick my brains about her family holiday.”

Galanou says her new client was thrilled with the convenience of their meeting and ended up booking a family holiday to Hamilton Island.

“She loved the fact that I had a job that allowed me to work in a roller skating rink!” says Galanou. “It suited her perfectly because she was able to sort out her family holiday then and there.  Everyone was happy.”

Galanou says the encounter illustrates perfectly why she joined TravelManagers.

“I had been working in the travel industry for almost 16 years when Qantas announced they were closing their retail travel centers around Australia,” she says. “I was faced with the option to join a high street agency or start my own business. I have school-aged children so it didn’t take more than 12 hours to decide I wanted to start my own business. I researched my options and felt, without a doubt, that the TravelManagers’ model offered exactly what I needed.

Galanou says the support offered by TravelManagers was core to her decision.

“I know travel but I am not an accountant or a marketing specialist,” she says. “With TravelManagers, I have a support team at the national partnership office in Sydney that is always there to look after me.  I also wanted to ensure that I had the backing  of a local business partnership team in Melbourne working to organize industry updates and someone to bounce ideas off to help me grow my business or just to call on me to ensure I’m doing ok,” says Galanou.

The personal travel manager says her expectations since she joined TravelManagers in 2011 have been exceeded.

“My job satisfaction is amazing! Every success that I have in my business is a result of my own work.  I can dedicate the time that my clients deserve on each of their itineraries.  I love that I am not restricted to a handful of suppliers as a lot of agencies are and therefore I can research and offer my clients the best options to suit their needs.

“As well as that I find that the 390 plus team of personal travel managers around Australia, that I hardly ever see, give each other more support than any bricks and mortar office I have ever worked in.”
