There are two, brand new camps available for guests to experience in the private Sapi Reserve – Sapi Explorers Camp and Sapi Springs Camp.

Our Sapi Explorers Camp, perfectly located along the Zambezi River, offers an ideal base for guests to explore the Sapi Reserve, Mana Pools and the Zambezi River and enjoy a safari experience reminiscent of the old African explorers, the perfect combination of romance, adventure and discovery.

Traverse the Sapi’s diverse terrain by vehicle or on foot, discovering the legendary Mtawatawa Pan, encountering some of Africa’s largest wildlife species. Guests have the opportunity to experience up-close encounters with elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, wild dog, buffalo, eland, zebra and other ungulate species. This is also a prime bird watching country and opportunities abound for guests to spot resident and migrant species, especially in the early morning and late afternoons. Explore the Zambezi River by canoe and boat, watch as wildlife congregates along the river to drink and marvel at the setting of the African sun.

Sapi Explorers Camp, with only 5 Explorers-style tents and each with en-suite hot and cold water showers and flush toilet, opens on the 1st of May until the 10th of January 2020.
After a short break, the 2020 safari season recommences earlier next year with the camp opening on the 15th of March 2020 and remains open until the 10th of January 2021.

At the Sapi Springs Camp, located inland along the seasonal Sapi River, guests have the opportunity to sleep under a canopy of indigenous trees. There are only three guest rooms, each offering a large comfortable bed elegantly positioned under a mosquito net on a raised outdoor sleeping platform. In addition, the room also offers a ground level sitting area, second bedroom and “en-suite” bathroom facility that includes a flush toilet and hot and cold water shower. The beauty of this camp is the experience of sleeping safely under the African stars, shaded by the natural tangle of tree branches on the raised platform of the bedroom unit. The thrill of listening to the night’s sounds, and being so close to nature, is an experience not to be missed.

There is something about being under those huge trees that puts you completely at ease and makes Sapi Springs Camp the perfect place to spend the afternoon relaxing, reading a book and watching as Lillian’s lovebirds, sand grouse and other birds visit the spring. In addition to relaxing in camp, the guests’ safari experience is complemented by either walking and exploring the area on foot with your registered wildlife guide or heading out on wildlife drives in open vehicles that take one further into the remote interior of the private Sapi Reserve

Sapi Springs Camp will open on the 1st of May until the 30th of November this year.
It’s 2020 safari season also starts earlier next year, commencing on the 1st of April and closing on the 30th of November 2020
