The awe-inspiring landscapes of Alberta, Canada, have added yet another blockbuster movie to their list of on-screen appearances with the highly anticipated film The Revenant directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award® winner Alejandro G. Inarritu (Birdman, Babel).
Inspired by true events, The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio, follows the story of frontiersman Hugh Glass who in an expedition of the uncharted North American wilderness is attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass navigates a vicious winter guided by the love of his family and a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
The film features a number of locations in Alberta including the Rocky Mountain regions of Canmore/Kananaskis and the city of Calgary, is set for release in Australia on 7 January 2016 following its premiere in North America on 25 December 2015.
