The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Announces Spring Epicurean Weekend

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay presents the Spring Epicurean Weekend on Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, 2014. Guest’s senses will be brought to life when they experience fine cooking, exceptional dining, and learning the art of the craft.

Guests are welcomed to the resort on Friday evening with a Vintner Dinner in Navio featuring Sonoma Coast’s Flowers Vineyards and Winery. This wine focused evening will feature a four-course dinner designed by Navio Chef Kevin Tanaka. Each course is paired with the perfect Flowers wine to accentuate the flavor of the dish. During dinner a representative from Flowers Vineyards and Winery will discuss each varietal paired with the menu, provide insight on their pioneering of Pinot Noir and answer questions about the winemaking business. Flowers Winery produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its two estate properties, Camp Meeting Ridge Vineyard and Sea View Ridge Vineyard, as well as select vineyards in the coolest regions of the Sonoma Coast AVA.

The wine journey continues on Saturday when guests become a winemaker for a day. Swirl, sniff, and taste glasses of single varietal cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc that will be blended to create a personal crafted full and half bottle of wine. A blending guide will lead participants through an education of grape varietals and a blending session using graduated cylinders and beakers. The experience includes bottling and corking the bottles. Following a reception lunch, there will be a blind tasting of each personal crafted wine where guests will rate the best and one person will be recognized as Vintner of the Day.

The weekend culminates with the Taste of the Weekend Reception on Saturday evening. Guests will have the chance to experience some of the finest local and unique flavors of Northern California with artisan hors d’oeuvres, a sommelier accompanied wine station, local olive oil tastings, and cheese displays hosted by a Fromagerie. The evening also includes roasting gourmet s’mores while listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean.

Available May 2, 2014, the Epicurean Weekend is $2,646 per couple and includes two nights in a coastal view guest room, wine dinner in Navio on Friday, wine blending luncheon and Taste of the Weekend Reception on Saturday, resort fee, and overnight valet parking.

Enhance the weekend with Navio’s award winning Brunch on Sunday. Brunch offers an impressive selection of culinary delights. Create a multi-course feast with assorted stations of cheese and charcuterie, salads, chilled soups, sushi, dim sum, caviar, made to order eggs, carving stations, the raw oyster bar and other specialty dishes. Sunday Brunch is $105 per person.
