Swire Properties have launched SD 2030 vision, an initiative to reinforce the company’s commitment to sustainable development. In keeping with this initiative, Hong Kong’s The Upper House has partnered with The Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association (HKDSA) to provide vocational experiences for its members and to equip them with skills needed to integrate into society.

The programme included 18-hours of training, followed by a 2-month period spent with The Upper House’s expert team, where members received guidance from the hotel’s dedicated committee, who were on hand to mentor them through the back of house operations and guest engagement. In celebration of the completion of the programme, a graduation ceremony was held in September – you can see some highlights from the day here.

Two members of the initiative have taken on long-term roles at The Upper House, and the partnership with HKDSA is set to continue as one of the House’s ongoing commitments to being an inclusive workplace.
