The Vikings Are Coming Two Weeks Until the Vikings Reach Australia

Viking Sun, the newest addition to Viking’s industry-leading ocean fleet, is visiting Australian shores on its 141-day world cruise from Miami to London next month. It will be the first time in the company’s 20-year history that a Viking Ship will visit Australia.

“This visit to Australia is the perfect opportunity for agents to discover what we can offer their discerning cruise clients,” said Michelle Black, Viking Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand. “We encourage them to learn more about the Viking way of exploration that has proved so popular with the market.”

Some last-minute spots are available for agents to inspect Viking Sun when it visits Sydney on 10-11 February, Cairns on 16 February or Darwin on 21 February, for a firsthand experience aboard. If you would like to inspect the ship, please email AU.Agents@vikingcruises.com by COB Tuesday 30 January.

Viking will begin home-porting from Sydney in December 2018, with Viking Orion spending three months of the year cruising between Sydney and Auckland. “Previously guests had to fly to Europe to experience Viking,” says Michelle. “We’re thrilled that Australians will be able to experience the Viking difference right from their doorstep, exploring the natural wonders and dynamic cities in our own backyard.”

With the arrival of Viking Jupiter in 2019, the company will be the largest small ship ocean cruise line in the world. Viking’s unique cruising concept includes a no children policy, destination-focused itineraries, free Wi-Fi and a free shore excursion in every port. Their state-of-the-art, all-veranda ocean ships are engineered at a scale that allows central docking in most ports. With a focus on cultural immersion, Viking has moved away from onboard casinos in favour of a choice of 10 dining venues (with plenty of al fresco dining), at no extra cost. Guests can relax in the stunning, glass-backed infinity pool cantilevered off the ship’s stern and enjoy the popular Spa including Snow Grotto, based on the holistic wellbeing philosophy of Nordic culture.

“We’re very excited to welcome our ocean ships to Australia for the first time,” says Michelle. “In the last two decades we have led the industry in river cruising, and as we become the leading small ship ocean cruise line we’re delighted to have the opportunity to introduce more Australians to a new style of cruising that has evolved to meet changing consumer tastes in the industry.”
