Think Inc. presents theoretical physicist and best-selling author Dr Lisa Randall’s debut Australian tour
American theoretical physicist, best-selling author and advocate for gender equality in science Dr Lisa Randall is embarking on a speaking tour of Australia this November with the team behind the tours of Neil deGrasse Tyson, Brian Greene and Michio Kaku: Think Inc. During the three city Australian tour, she will discuss the physical world, the science and research world, and the inextricable social world in between the two.
Earning her Bachelors in Physics and PhD in theoretical particle physics from Harvard University, Dr Lisa Randall has become one of the leading scientific researchers and academics in particle physics and cosmology, working towards uncovering a ‘fifth dimension’ of our physical world via the Randall-Sundrum Model (1999).
As the first female theoretical physicist to hold tenure at Harvard University, Randall is of a rapidly-growing population of women that are shattering the misconception that dangling from the door to the world of science and scientific careers is a ‘Men’s Only’ sign. Randall is dedicated to empowering girls and young women to pursue their scientific interests, and for a social climate that facilitates their potential: “If you keep telling girls they’re less good at science, that will probably be self-fulfilling. But there are quite a lot of women who are good at it.”
Randall is the author of such best-selling books as, ‘Warped Passages: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe’s Hidden Dimensions’ (2005), ‘Knocking On Heaven’s Door: How Physics and Scientific Thinking Illuminate the Universe and the Modern World’ (2011), ‘Higgs Discovery: The Power of Empty Space’ (2013) and the ambitious ‘Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs: The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe’ (2015).
Think Inc. are pleased to announce one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People (2007) in An evening with Dr Lisa Randall in November 2016. Join Dr Randall as she discusses the astounding interconnectedness of the universe and astounding disconnectedness of human beings, and remedies for the latter.
