However, using a metaphor, my philosophy and theory is as follows:
Let’s say that we eat chicken. You may have it presented to you, you may choose to select it on a restaurant menu, in some cases (at a catering function) you may have no choice, and sometimes you may even choose to cook it yourself; One of the attractions of eating chicken is that it can be delivered and presented in endless ways and combinations, and often we repeat the exact same chicken dish over and over again. Do we get tired of it? Do we say I have seen and tasted before, therefore I don’t need to see, taste it again!
My suggestion to you is that PEACE can be presented to you, it can be chosen by you, you can actively prepare and present it yourself, and it can be delivered in endless and creative ways. Do we stop partaking of it because we have “tried it before”?
The message of Peace, the forms that it takes, the active or passive way we might interact with it is limitless.
My theory is, if we “keep banging on” about it, the people who are receptive to it will be reinforced and “enjoy” the message/“meal”! For some people it may be the first time that they choose to partake of it, because it is presented in a way that is palatable to them; or you may also choose to actively prepare and present your own style and flavour. Whatever is your preference, the repeated message and repeated ideals and different forms of how PEACE is thought about and acted upon should always be endless and limitless.
How might you redesign, add your own interpretation and present the message of PEACE through Tourism?
We might be clever, creative and innovative in our business and professional pursuits so how do we position those skills into being clever, creative and innovative in incorporating the message of “PEACE THROUGH TOURISM” into our everyday business activities?
I don’t pretend to be a clever “chef”, most of the time I am reproducing a Peace message/”meal” that has been developed and designed by “others”. It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t “taste good”! For me it is the same as buying a cook book. You like the dish, sometimes we like the Cook! So we “give it a go”, present it and sometimes it is a great success!! Sometimes others even want the recipe themselves.
I invite everyone to experiment with the pursuit of PEACE. Design it and present it in any way that appeals to you and sit back and watch the effect, sometimes it may be a great success! And others may want to copy and emulate your recipe.
May the message of PEACE through TOURISM, be incorporated and redesigned with your own style and signature and with your commitment that every traveller is potentially an Ambassador for Peace, and you have just nominated yourself, your client or colleague the Noble Prize for Peace.
