Tigerair Australia Spreads Its Wings East And West New Sydney – Perth Services Take Flight In Time For Christmas

Tigerair Australia announces a new route between Sydney and Perthcommencing operations from 19 December 2013, with fares on sale from midday today (Friday 27 September AEST) starting from $109.95* each way (introductory sale fares available for travel in February and March 2014).

The airline will fly up to six weekly return services between Sydney and Perth providing up to 2160 additional visitor seats weekly through Perth Airport and growing Tigerair’s presence in Sydney at the same time. Tigerair’s entry on the Sydney – Perth route complements the airline’s existing Melbourne – Perth route which it flies twice daily and up to three times daily in peak periods.

“We’re regularly asked by the travelling public in WA to provide more services. This is great news for leisure seekers on a budget and will provide a welcome boost for tourism in West Australia and New South Wales.

“Flights start in time for the peak Christmas and New Year period so anyone looking for a great value getaway or that hasn’t planned for the January school holidays yet should be delighted about the launch of our latest new route.”

Key facts:

–       The core schedule has six weekly return services between Sydney and Perth commencing from 19 December 2013. Fares are on sale from midday (AEST) today (Friday 27 September) from just $109.95* each way (special introductory fares from $109.95* are for travel in February and March 2014).

–       Flights regularly depart Sydney Airport at 19:55 or 21:55 and arrive in Perth at 21:55 or 23:55, returning from Perth at 22:50 or 01:00(next day) to arrive into Sydney at 0605 or 0815.

–       These new services will provide up to 2160 additional visitor seats weekly through Perth airport and boost Tigerair’s already strong presence in Sydney.

–       Tigerair Australia has already launched five new routes this year including Sydney – Coffs Harbour, Sydney – Cairns, Sydney – Alice Springs, Melbourne – Alice Springs, and Melbourne – Sunshine Coast. The new Sydney – Perth route will become the airline’s sixth new route to be launched in 2013.

–       Tigerair Australia currently employs more than 1000 people in various roles including cabin crew, pilots and through maintenance and ground handling partnerships.

–       Around 10 new jobs will be created at Perth airport in ground handling roles to facilitate the new services. There will also be further positive impact to employment in Perth and Western Australia given the new route will provide up to 2160 extra visitor seats weekly through Perth airport.

–       Tigerair Australia currently has 11 A320 aircraft deployed in Australia.

–       Tigerair currently has 17 popular domestic routes on sale (including the new Sydney – Perth route announced today).

–       Tigerair Australia has flown well over 11 million passengers since domestic operations commenced on 23 November 2007.
