TODAY Show and KIIS discover freedom in South Africa

July 16, 2014 Destination Global No Comments Email Email

This week marks a significant international event – Mandela Day.

The TODAY Show weather team and KIIS FM’s Intern Pete are reporting from South Africa to join in the festivities, celebrate the year that marks 20 years of freedom in South Africa  and commemorate one of the world’s most powerful peace makers.

They will also relish in some of the most wonderful locations South Africa has to offer, and have a go at some of the country’s unique adventure experiences.

Steve Jacobs and The TODAY Show crew will visit the iconic Mandela House in Soweto, the Knysna Oyster Festival, and head on safari. They will meet the people of South Africa with a visit to an Afrika Tikkun project, which is dedicated to investing in education, health and social services for children, youth and their families; a charity close to Nelson Mandela’s heart.

Steve will get up close to nature’s greatest predator when he hops in the Indian Ocean to swim with Great White Sharks.

Australians will also closely follow Kyle and Jackie O’s Intern Pete as he too is challenged to dive with the Great Whites, climb and attempt to abseil down Table Mountain and spend the night on safari. Three listeners will also have the chance to experience everything South Africa has to offer as every challenge Pete completes wins a lucky couple a trip.

“Working with Australia’s top media outlets is a tremendous opportunity to promote what South Africa has to offer. Our activity with Today Show and KIIS FM gives Australians the opportunity to go on the journey with their favourite presenters, and hopefully be inspired to follow in their footsteps” says Ms. Lalie Ngozi, South African Tourism General Manager, Australasia.
