egtmedia59The Tokyo Metropolitan Government said Thursday it will start a 24-hour bus service in December.

Bus services will be offered once an hour between the Shibuya and Roppongi districts between 1 and 5 a.m. every Saturday on a trial basis.

The bus fare will be ¥400, equal to fares on current late-night Tokyo buses.

All-night public transport service will boost the appeal of Tokyo as an international city, metropolitan government officials said.

The metropolitan government will consider expanding the service depending on the number of passengers.

In April, Tokyo Gov. Naoki Inose expressed his intention to introduce 24-hour bus service as early as this year.
