Summer is an ideal time of year to visit the beautiful Margaret River Region – the sun is shining, the sea breeze keeps the temperatures in check and there are countless beaches just waiting to be explored.  Here is our list of the Top 10 things to do in Margaret River Region in Summer:

1. Surf: Margaret River is renowned for its epic surf breaks, and with over 70 surf breaks (not including the secret spots) anyone from a beginner to a pro can enjoy the surfing lifestyle. Don’t have a board? Surfing and stand up paddle boarding lessons or surfboard hire are available from a number of local businesses.

2. Watch a movie in a vineyard: Movies at Cape Mentelle runs from November until March – gourmet pizza, a bottle of wine and a film under the stars – you don’t need to ask us twice!

3. Go to a brewery: Craft beer is becoming super popular in the Margaret River Region and there is nothing like a pint of cold, crisp Kolsch on a warm day!

4. Beach it: Nothing beats a lazy day on the beach – there are plenty of sheltered bays throughout the region, so pack your umbrella, your esky, and your sunscreen – you’ll never want to leave!

5. Get up early: Take an early morning bike ride, a walk in the forest or a refreshing dip in the ocean – you’re going to be doing a lot of eating and drinking so you’ll thank us later!

6. Go fishing: The waters of the Margaret River Region offer some awesome fishing – whether it’s off the beach, on a deep-sea charter or in the local waterways – check if you need a license, then tackle up!

7. Get underwater: Grab a snorkel and explore the pristine waters and reefs teeming with marine life, or dive down to WA’s most famous shipwreck, the HMAS Swan. Don’t want to get wet? The Busselton Underwater Observatory is eight metres below sea level, so you can explore this enchanting underwater world whilst staying warm and dry;

8. Go caving: The cool temperatures of Jewel, Lake and Mammoth Caves provide a welcome escape from the warm weather – plus they are some of the most spectacular limestone show caves in the world;

9. Watch the sunset: You can’t beat a Western Australian sunset over the ocean – grab a picnic and head down to your nearest beach and watch Mother Nature  put on the show of a lifetime;

10. Go on a wine tour: Jump on an air-conditioned minibus or in a private four wheel drive and explore the Margaret River Region’s many cellar doors and local gourmet food producers.
