Top Australian chefs come to Relish Food and Wine Festival

One of Australia’s most popular chefs, Alastair McLeod, will headline the region’s premier food and wine event, the Relish Food and Wine Festival, in Maryborough on 7 June.

Alastair is one of the stars of Channel Ten’s cooking game show, Ready Steady Cook, where Australia’s top chefs and guest contestants battle against each other and the clock to create a winning meal.

Fraser Coast Opportunities Events Manager Kim Griffith said Alastair’s commitment to utilising only the best locally sourced ingredients was a perfect match with Relish.

“Alastair is an ardent supporter of all things local. He believes the closer you are to the source of your food, the better it will taste and the smaller the carbon footprint you will create,” Ms Griffith said.
“Relish is a delicious showcase of the Fraser Coast’s finest seasonal produce and regional wineries and Alastair will conduct a number of cooking demonstrations throughout the day, to shine the spotlight on our regional food heroes,” she said.

“It is an exciting opportunity for Festival goers to meet with Alastair and other award winning regional chefs, including our own My Kitchen Rules winners Dan and Steph Mulheron, who will share ways to achieve incredible flavours using only the best ingredients.”

Maryborough’s magnificent Portside precinct – incorporating Queens Park, Mary River Parklands, heritage streetscapes and the Mary River – will serve as a distinct backdrop to this celebration of regional food and wine.

Ms Griffith said this beautiful setting would come alive with fresh local produce, beer and wine tasting sessions, cooking and food demonstrations, competitions, live music and much more.

“This year the event has been extended into the early evening to satisfy those looking to enjoy watching the sun over the Mary River while relaxing in the park with a glass of wine and some soulful tunes.”

Tickets for Relish are now on sale and can be pre-purchased on-line for just $10. Tickets will be $15 at the gate. Children under 18 are free.  Go to for tickets, information and accommodation packages.
