Tourism and Transport Forum appoints new chief exec

July 11, 2014 Appointments, Headline News No Comments Email Email

egtmedia59One of Australia’s prominent tourism lobby groups, the Tourism & Transport Forum, has appointed Margy Osmond as its new chief executive.

TTF chairman Bruce Baird said Osmond brought a wealth of relevant skills and experience from her diverse roles in politics, business and the tourism, events, sports and arts sectors.

“We are extremely pleased to announce Ms Osmond’s appointment as TTF’s new Chief Executive Officer following an extensive recruitment process,” Baird said.

“With more than 20 years of relevant industry, advocacy and major events experience, as chief executive officer of the Australian National Retailers Association and the NSW State Chamber of Commerce, a current board member of the Australian Sports Commission and the NSW TAFE Board, and previous board member of Tourism NSW, NSW Major Events and Bell Shakespeare, Ms Osmond is well equipped to spearhead TTF’s policy and advocacy agenda.

“She is a well-established commentator with a strong track record of policy and campaign development. I am confident Ms Osmond will capably drive TTF’s advocacy of the economic importance of the tourism and transport sectors in Australia.

“TTF plays a major role in coordinating the industry and bringing together its collective strength. This is more critical than ever given state and federal governments’ elevated interest and focus on transport and tourism infrastructure.”

Osmond said she was looking forward to joining TTF.

“TTF is Australia’s pre-eminent tourism and transport advocacy and industry group, and I am very excited about the opportunity to lead the organisation,” she said.

“It covers a great breadth and depth of policy areas and is also the nation’s only multi-modal transport industry group.

“TTF has a strong reputation for driving key industry issues and achieving results. My focus will be on keeping the industry’s issues at the forefront of the political agenda.”

Osmond will commence in the role on 1 October 2014, with Trent Zimmerman TTF acting chief executive in the interim period.
