Tourism Council launches Tourism Internships

The Tourism Industry Council NSW (TICNSW) in partnership with members of its Education and Training Sub-Committee, has recently launched a Student Internships page, providing a listing of the tourism sector’s educational bodies that offer internship programs across the wider industry.
Offering a page on the Council’s website –, these tourism education providers offer ready, enthusiastic and passionate students who are keen to gain real world work experience in the tourism industry and play a long term role in its future.

The General Manager of the Tourism Industry Council NSW, Mr Andrew Jefferies said that “the webpage is a first step in establishing a wider internship network across the Council’s own membership and the industry across New South Wales.  We welcome the input of the Council’s Education & Training Sub-Committee that has allowed us to establish this link that closes the gap between the education side of the sector and tourism employers”.

The Council’s Chairman of the Education and Training Sub-Committee, Mr Peter Lipman of William Blue College of Hospitality Management said “This is an exciting development for Tourism Industry Council NSW members as they now have the ability to source highly qualified trainees from some of the best tourism educational institutions in the state. It’s a win – win situation for all. The students have the opportunity to apply their tourism education into a real life work situation and the tourism business workforce is supplemented with employees that have a real passion and knowledge of the tourism industry. Internship programs like these should help to address the projected skill shortages in our industry and that has to be good for everyone in the tourism industry”.
