Featuring the highest active volcanoes in the world, the greatest concentration of species by area, white sand beaches and the breathtaking Galapagos Islands are just a few reasons why Ecuador received recognition as the “Green Destination of the World for 2013,” by the World Travel Awards.

According to the World Travel Awards,Ecuador is also considered the number one destination to visit in Latin America and the seventh must-visit place in the world in 2014.

According to The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador, Ecuador has seen a revival in tourism leading to more than one million foreign visitors in 2012, a growth of 12 percent compared to 2011, which is almost three times that of the global average (an approximate 4 percent growth rate). Better still, in 2013 Ecuador attracted over 1.3 million tourists.

The Ministry of Tourism of Ecuador reports that the tourism industry is the county’s fourth most income generator. The Ministry also expects it will rise to third place as it approaches revenues of $1.5 million, ultimately producing more jobs that will positively impact the future of the country and its economy.
