Tourism Industry Association of Seychelles meet island’s Minister for Tourism

Mr John Stravens, the Chairman of the Seychelles Hospitality & Tourism Association, accompanied by Eddie D’Offay, Kate Carolus, Amit Wasserberg and Louise AhKoon all Members of the Association’s Executive Committee met with Minister Alain St.Ange. the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture at his offices at the National Cultural Centre in Victoria.

This tourism private sector trade meeting with the Minister takes place on a regular basis and remains a commitment made by Minister St.Ange after he took office for his office to be managed with an open door policy for the tourism trade.  SHTA meeting

The Chairman of the Seychelles Hospitality & Tourism Association had submitted their Agenda for the meeting with the Minister and Anne Lafortune, his PS for Tourism.

When he opened the meeting Minister Alain St.Ange aid that he was always happy to welcome representatives of the trade to the Ministry. “We are here to work with you to continue to look at the challenges you face and to find solutions to help ensure our industry moves from strength to strength” Minister St.Ange said.

Mr John Stravens,  Chairman of the Tourism Industry Association of Seychelles thanked Minister St.Ange for his open door approach and tabled points submitted by his members for discussion.

These included Ceasing of the Fast Track Airport Service, regulations for all small cruise ships operations based in Port Victoria, the Tourism Board Budget and their Activities for 2014, the cost for private sector participating at tourism trade fairs,  air access and the Ministry of Tourism & Culture calendar of events for the year among others. Each of the Agenda points raised were discussed in a frank, open and transparent manner.

At the end of the meeting Minister Alain St.Ange requested the tourism trade to come out for the Official Opening of the La Reunion products fair that will take place at the national Cultural Centre at 3pm on Thursday the 24th October. “It will be an opportunity for Hoteliers and the Seychelles Business Community to see products made in La Reunion and to meet the responsible business community of La Reunion.  It is an opportunity to seek representation in Seychelles for these products” Minister St.Ange said.

The Minister also spoke about the Sustainable Development Encounters between La Reunion and Seychelles that will be opened a 9am odey the 25th October at the ICCS, the International Conference Centre of Victoria. “We all say we want to embrace green technology so let us see what is available and in use in La Reunion” the Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said.
