The evolution of Australia’s tourism industry will be under the spotlight at the 2016 Victorian Tourism Conference to be held on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th July at Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre. Presented by the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), the conference is an essential calendar date for all Victorian businesses and will feature an inspirational line-up of speakers who will demystify strategies for building profitable, sustainable and resilient businesses in tune with the changing visitor economy.

Under the theme of Experience Evolution, business and tourism leaders from across Australia will lead the way for the Victorian tourism industry to explore the many ways it can best recognise, adapt to and capitalise on the changing nature of consumers and the market in which it operates. Conference delegates will have valuable opportunities to share knowledge, form business relationships, discuss industry issues and get hands on in a host of practical workshops.
VTIC has brought together an inspiring line-up of speakers from Australia and abroad who will share their knowledge and experience of the changing world of tourism. Author and keynote speaker,Steve Sammartino, will set the scene for the conference, taking a close look at the digital revolution and highlighting ways we can thrive in this new environment.

Google Australia’s Head of Tourism, Dougal McKenzie will share insights into these new behaviours and provide some crucial tips for businesses while social media guru, Sam Mutimer, founder of Thinktank Social, looks at strategies for meaningful engagement on the worldwide web.
Didier Elzinga, Co-Founder and CEO of Culture Amp, a software start of company with a rapidly growing global client database, will put the spotlight on workplace culture, its increased importance and ways to enhance yours while Bradley Fauteux, CEO of Parks Victoria, will bring delegates up to speed on the latest in nature-based tourism.
An important contributor to our state’s economy, the Victorian tourism and events industry currently employs 204,000 people, half of this in regional locations, and generates more than $20 billion per year. And the future for the tourism industry looks bright. Tourism is clearly a leading export sector for Victoria, with recent statistics indicating that Victoria’s international visitors, nights and expenditure are the highest on record.

Registration costs for VTIC members cost $550 per person for a two day pass ($650 for non members), $330 per person for a one day pass ($380 for non members), available on either day) and $150 for the Conference Dinner ($175 for non members) to be held at Bendigo’s Chateau Dore winery. VTIC encourages tourism and events students to attend the conference and take advantage of the special concession rates of $99 for a one-day student pass and $175 a ticket to the Conference Dinner.
