Tourism Industry Veteran Appointed To Run Skydive’s FNQ Operations

Skydive the Beach Group Limited’s (“SKB” or “Skydive”), Australia and New Zealand’s leading adventure tourism and leisure company, has appointed Steve O’Malley as General Manager – Commercial Far North Queensland, effective 1 July 2017.

Mr O’Malley has 25 years of tourism industry and operational leadership experience, during which time he specialised in ICT strategy, management and financial technology development. He will be responsible for all of Skydive’s operations in Far North Queensland, including the Cairns, Mission Beach and Airlie beach drop zones, as well as the adventure tourism experiences offered by Raging Thunder Adventures (acquired October 2016) and Reef Magic Cruises (acquired May 2017). 

Mr O’Malley has played an integral role in the management and development of major tourism organisations including Quicksilver Group, Tourism Holdings Limited (NZ), ResPax and Tourism Leisure Corporation. He is also an active member of the community, after serving local professional basketball team the Taipans for 17 years, Steve now sits on the boards of both the Taipans and the Cairns Amateurs.

His appointment increases Skydive’s tourism market capability as it becomes the world’s largest adventure tourism and leisure operation.
