Tourism Leader Continues to Invest in Broome

Delivering award winning tourism experiences for over twenty years, Willie Creek Pearls continues to support the growth of Broome as a destination with significant investment in infrastructure in the town.

This month marks major milestones for the business with the opening of two new hospitality venues, the launch of a joint venture Aquaculture display project at Willie Creek and the commencement of a new cruise vessel offering a unique tourism experience from Broome to the award-winning Willie Creek Pearl Farm.

New hospitality venue, The Zookeeper Store in Cable Beach was opened as the company identified an opportunity to provide the town an offering that is lacking in Broome.  The Grill located at Willie Creek Pearl Farm, just 38kms from Broome was unveiled just last week. “The Grill, which was once just a basic café, now offers all visitors to Willie Creek an expanded dining experience while still maintaining the same relaxed atmosphere.  We look forward to taking this hospitality service to the next level as we make application for a liquor license which will see the iconic location further establish itself as the destination it is in its own right for both Broome locals and visitors alike ” says General Manager, Paul Birch.

New vessel ‘Gumin’ offers a completely new adventure for visitors of Broome with a scenic cruise across azure blue waters as an alternative transfer option to the pearl farm.  The tour features a ship to shore transfer on ‘sealegs’, commentary and the opportunity for guests to see an array of bird and marine life, in particular the majestic Humpback Whales (in season). Investment in this vessel and development of this product was made to meet market demand and provide more unique offerings to visitors to Broome.

Despite some views of a down turn in activity and concerns around tourist visitation to Broome, the investment in Broome infrastructure and local labor resources through employment of staff in both causal and full time roles illustrates the Banfield families ongoing commitment to tourism and Broome’s economy.

The Willie Creek Pearls group incorporates the Willie Creek Pearl Farm Tour, Willie Creek Grill, five pearl retail showrooms including Willie Creek, Chinatown, Cable Beach, Subiaco and a new showroom at Hillarys Boat Harbor, Broome Sightseeing Tours and Pearl Luggers Tours.  For more information on the Willie Creek group visit www.williecreekpearls.com.au.
