Tourism Meeting In Madrid – WTTC & UNWTO Delegates Breakfast With Stephen Sackur Of BBC At The Ritz Madrid
The BBC World Tourism Ministers Breakfast with Stephen Sackur that was held on the 15th April analysed the question of disruptions for the tourism industry. Stephen Sackur, the host of the BBC Hard Talk programme spoke at the breakfast as delegates presented their respective countries key USPs and on what they say was today considered as disruptive acts or developments for their tourism industry.
The Ministers and Tourism Leaders are this week gathered in Madrid for the 15th WTTC (World Tourism & Travel Council) Global Summit. The support by the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) for this Global Summit is seen as the continued development of public / private sector partnership with the UNWTO representing Governments and the WTTC the private sector. Government Ministers present have all echoed the importance for such a spirit of togetherness.
Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said after the BBC World Ministers Breakfast that such gatherings were always important because opportunities to exchange ideas based on successes or challenges helps in planning for the way forward. “Listening to other and reflecting on one’s own challenges and successes remains an important exercise. A well informed leader is always a good leader” said the Seychelles Minister St.Ange.
The Seychelles Minister also said that these gatherings helped always helped him to raise the visibility of his islands and ensure that they remain relevant at all time in the world of tourism.
