Visit California will play cupid during their Australian and New Zealand Sales and Media Mission 21-27 August, helping the travel industry to discover their ideal travel match in the Golden State.

For its fourth series of travel training events in as many years, Visit California will bring a delegation of 20 California travel industry representatives ‘Down Under’ to educate and engage travel agents through a trio of events staged in Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.

This year’s events feature a new sit-down dinner format that will include interactive “match-making” themed activities. California destinations will be presented as potential “matches” so that agents can better understand what each area has to offer and later fit that with the needs of their travel clients.

“Education and training is still the focus of our 2012 events, but we’ve added a quirky new twist to help agents understand which destinations and experiences are best suited to which travellers,”

said Jo Palmer, Managing Director for Visit California, Australia and New Zealand.

The Visit California Sales and Media Mission travel training events are sold out, having reached their capacity in all cities within a day of registration sites going live.

“We’ve never had demand as high as this, and I think it is a sign of the appeal of the United States and California as a key destination for Australian and New Zealand travellers alike,” said Palmer.

“Visit California’s roadshow events have become such an integral part of the travel industry calendar, allowing agents to obtain first-hand knowledge and advice from Californian suppliers in market,” added Jennifer Jasper Montero, Visit California’s Director of Australia & Latin America Marketing. “As testimony to the success of our roadshows, we have a record number of participants for 2012, with  representatives from top destinations, attractions, hotels and shopping outlets.”

The California Sales and Media Mission will visit Melbourne on Tuesday 21 August, Sydney on Wednesday 22 August and Auckland on Monday 27 August. Special B2B sessions will also be held in Sydney and Auckland.
