A 30-metre-long whale-watch boat named Adventure Hornblower blew its horn loudly several times to warn tourists before smashing into a pier last week and injuring seven passengers. A 50-second video shot by a tourist shows the confusion and the impact.
Seven passengers were injured when the boat rammed into the Embarcadero dock in San Diego with a great crunch on Thursday.
The video shows the Adventure Hornblower approaching the dock as a waiting queue of prospective passengers watches. You can hear tourists making light-hearted comments.
“Park it anywhere!” a person exclaims, to laughter.
But the boat keeps coming – fast.
“I wouldn’t stand in front of it guys!” someone warns, as the Adventure Hornblower blasts its horn and slams into the dock, its prow smashing about a metre into the structure.
Seven passengers suffered “minor to moderate” injuries, with three sent to hospital with neck, back or leg injuries, San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief David Gerboth told the Los Angeles Times.
