egtmedia59To celebrate the launch yesterday of its expanded and more flexible range of Round the World (RTW) fares, the Star Alliance network is giving Australian travel agents the chance to win two RTW tickets, plus Westfield vouchers.

The world’s largest airline alliance – which groups Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, Thai, United and others – has unveiled four additional RTW fare levels, letter travellers opt for lower fares by taking fewer stopovers or reducing their total mileage to suit their individual travel needs.

In Economy Class, RTW fare levels are now determined through a combination of total number of stops and total mileage used.

Until now, higher mileage levels in Economy Class – 29,000, 34,000 or 39,000 miles – allowed a maximum of 15 stops. But with the new fare levels, customers can select fewer stops in return for a lower price. For example, a traveller using a 29,000 mileage RTW ticket can now opt to make only Coles-Training_250X250pxseven stops and save around AUD 400 (excluding taxes and surcharges).

In Business Class passengers can now select a lower fare covering up to 26,000 miles (compared to the previous minimum of 29,000 miles) and save more than AUD 1800 (excluding taxes and surcharges). The number of stops allowed remains unchanged for all Business Class RTW fare levels, with a minimum of three to a maximum of 15 stops.

With RTW fares a popular option for Australian travellers, Star Alliance – in partnership with award-winning eLearning specialist OTT – has created a new online training program specifically designed to help Australian travel agents learn more about the new RTW fare levels.

The new Star Alliance Experts program offers five training modules designed to enhance understanding of the new RTW fares, along with some of Star Alliance’s other innovative products and services.

Travel agents who complete the training course before 25 June 2014 are automatically in the running to win two Star Alliance RTW tickets. In addition, each week every agent enrolled in the training program has the chance to win Westfield vouchers valued at AUD 100.

Star Alliance now offers a choice of 14 RTW fares: three for travel in First Class, four for travel in Business Class and seven for travel in Economy Class.
