Travel company named by Sunday Times as one of fastest growing companies internationally

Leading global independent travel company, Travel Counsellors has been named as one of the UK’s fastest growing private companies internationally with growth of 33%.

The company has increased its dominance overseas and international sales reached £103.9m* (as of financial year ending October 2012). In fact sales in Australia alone are up by 13% on the past 12 months. 

The family run company which has more than 1200 agents as well as head office staff in a total of 7 countries looks after more than 450,000 leisure and corporate customers a year.  It is the only travel agency to feature in the Sunday Times international track 200 which ranks private companies on their international sales over the past 2 years.  The news comes only a few months after the company came 13th in the paper’s UK Profit Track 100 league table and it is the third year in succession that the company has been recognised for its success internationally by featuring in the International Track 200.

The company which was started in 1994 by David Speakman, is based in the north west of England and has expanded internationally over the past six years with global sales expected to reach over £400m in 2013.  Most recently the travel company opened an office in Dubai through a joint venture partnership with the air travel service provider, Dnata.

Mr Byrne continued: “We are keen to drive the company forward through further international growth. That includes making sure we continue to invest in the Countries we already operate in and also explore other suitable markets, whether that be through wholly owned subsidiaries or joint ventures like in Dubai or through master franchises.  Our positive international results prove that we understand the global travel market and our unique business model and technology based on a high level of personal service enable our agents to compete and prosper regardless of the economic climate.
