Travel Counsellors agents and head office staff came together on Thursday, May 22nd for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, holding events around the country in support of the Cancer Council.

Travel Counsellors head office organised high tea events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide for their agents to attend and enjoy a cup of tea, along with some decadent treats whilst catching up with their colleagues. Those agents who were not able to attend the events also played a part, as head office sent a personalised card to all of the agents across Australia with a tea bag inside to encourage them to ‘have a cuppa on us’. unnamed (21)

The agents, who are home-based professionals running their own travel businesses, were encouraged to take a photo of themselves enjoying a cup of tea and share it with their fellow Travel Counsellors. The company matched all of its agents’ donations.

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity for friends, family or workmates to come together, share a cup of tea and some food, whilst fundraising for those affected by cancer. The organisation behind the Australia’s Biggest Morning event is Cancer Council, who bring together Australia’s leading state and territory cancer organisations.

Travel Counsellors Australia General Manager Tracy Parkinson commented: “It was a great day and raising money for such a great charity is amazing. Cancer Council have a clear vision and are determined to fight this awful disease, so we are proud to play a small role in raising money for them.”

In 2013, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea raised over $12.7 million and Cancer Council are hoping to top this total in 2014 by aiming to hit the $13 million mark. The events are staged throughout May and June.

The charity openly encourage workplaces to get involved in the Morning Tea events, stating that: “It’s a great way for everyone to come together, enjoy some morning tea, share a few activities and raise money for a fantastic cause.”
