Travel Counsellors logoTwo Travel Counsellors agents recently got to experience the wonders of Canada on a specialist familiarisation trip packed with signature wildlife, culinary, outdoors and cultural experiences.

Julia Lynch and Cheryl Andrews joined other travel agents from all over Australia and the world on the familiarisation tour that showcased Canada’s incredible diversity and warm hospitality.

Cheryl Andrews of Highton, VIC counted visiting the Newfoundland area as one of the highlights of the trip. While in Newfoundland, Cheryl and her group got to explore Quirpon Island – one of Newfoundland’s best spots to view icebergs. With one of the longest iceberg viewing seasons in Canada, seeing icebergs is a major drawcard for both domestic and international tourists. Apart from iceberg viewing, Quirpon Island is also a top spot to see minke whales, humpback whales and orcas – a true wild, paradise perfect for nature lovers and outdoors enthusiasts.

Julia Lynch of Waverley, NSW enjoyed the many charms of Prince Edward Island. An island with something for history buffs, literature lovers, and fans of gourmet produce, Prince Edward Island is well known as being the setting for the popular Anne of Green Gables books and films. Apart from touring the Anne of Green Gables house, much time was dedicated to eating. With a cooking class and foodie walking tour included in the program, the group enjoyed all sorts of local produce from fresh mussels, to hand-cut potato chips, lobster and locally-brewed craft ales. “The food was a very special part of the trip, we ate lobster at least once a day – if not more often,” Julia comments.

David Hughes, Managing Director of Travel Counsellors believes that familiarisation tours such as this one not only empower agents to sell travel more effectively, but also provide a good opportunity for agents to step out of their daily lives and gain perspective on the world. “At Travel Counsellors we encourage our network of agents to experience the world as much as possible, as the best way to give clients top shelf travel advice is to experience a destination firsthand. These tours allow Travel Counsellors agents to stay on top of travel trends, in order to provide timely, relevant travel advice to clients. That’s why we encourage agents to travel the world as much as possible. Whether they are joining famil trips run by partners or suppliers, or one of our exclusive incentive trips, stepping away from your desk to experience the world always makes for a better agent.”
