AE1R0110Travel Counsellors from across Australia recently gathered for one of the biggest events in the company calendar to hear all the latest news, updates and developments that will enhance the support provided to the growing number of agents in the country.

Held in the iconic Crown Melbourne, situated in the heart of Melbourne the conference was attended by over 170 delegates including most of the company’s Australian agents, their partners, plus its management team, head office staff and a host of guest speakers and suppliers.

Sessions within the conference focused on the event’s ‘Switch On’ theme, which centres on providing the company’s Travel Counsellors with the tools, knowledge, technology and strategy to switch on and continue to adapt to an ever changing business environment. Delegates were told how to build trust with their customers, with a focus towards how to value the unique level of AE1R3240personal service they provide and further improve their margin using the company’s in-house dynamic packaging technology. Other elements included financial protection and how the company provides its own trust to protect customer money. The event also gave the company’s agents, who all run their travel businesses from home, the chance to come together and celebrate the company’s success.

Travel Counsellors Managing Director Steve Byrne told delegates: “We are dedicated to providing you with the training, tools and technology to help you survive in a competitive and changing industry. Our goal is to give you the support and strategy to transform your businesses and to always keep ahead of the game. Importantly, we are focused on empowering you to recognise the value in your service and utilise the technology we’ve developed for you to determine what and how you sell, and ultimately the margin you make. By embracing the tools, support and training we provide you will truly see your business flourish, as your earning potential really is limitless.”

During the session the company’s own top performing Travel Counsellors also took to the stage to give advice to others about how they had built their businesses by embracing the support and tools to enable them to deliver the very best service to their customers.

Steve adds: “We have the experience of running and growing successful businesses across 8 countries, often in times of difficult economic climates. We will bring this wealth of knowledge and experience together to ensure our Travel Counsellors in Australia prosper in a competitive market.”

Suppliers in attendance exhibited at a special Pow Wow session, giving agents a chance to meet directly with representatives from a host of tourist boards, wholesalers, hotels and airlines and learn more about their products and destinations. This included headline sponsors Travelport, Scenic Tours, Royal Caribbean alongside Abercrombie & Kent, Qatar and Suresave. Agents were also rewarded for their hard work at an annual awards ceremony and gala dinner on the Saturday evening.

Australia General Manager, Tracy Parkinson commented on the camaraderie and fellowship that was evident over the weekend, saying: “Travel Counsellors understands and embraces the culture of a relationship driven business. Our agents understand that having direct access to over 1,300 other Travel Counsellors around the world gives them a significant advantage in developing their businesses. They use this to their benefit time and time again which is why their businesses are going from strength to strength.”
