Travel Counsellors is celebrating an incredible start to 2014, achieving phenomenal sales including its highest ever selling day in the company’s 20 year history and nine of the company’s best ever sales days.

The company has seen worldwide sales for January up by 18% from the previous year, topping A$91 million (£50m) in a month for the very first time, as the company continues to grow year on year.

New South Wales Central Coast based Travel Counsellor Trish Hollis celebrated her best ever sales month since she joined the company in December 2008.

She comments; “My business is going from strength to strength and I’m so excited that this past month has been my biggest yet, I couldn’t have achieved this without the continued support from our head office accounts team, sorting out all the behind the scenes monies for a large group booking.” She continues; “That’s why I love being a Travel Counsellor, you are given the tools and the confidence to run your business successfully, coupled with the uncapped earning potential.”

Travel Counsellors smashed all previous sales records on Friday 31st January, achieving an impressive worldwide sales total of A$4.6 million (£2.55m), beating the previous best day of A$4.4 million (£2.43m) in January 2013 by 5%. The company also scored its first ever world record hat trick securing the top three selling days in its history with combined sales of over A$11.9 million (£6.5m).

Global Sales Director, Malcolm Hingley comments; “We are absolutely thrilled to have seen such a positive start to the year for our Travel Counsellors. To have achieved nine of the company’s best ever sales days is a phenomenal feat, and is testament to just how hard our Travel Counsellors work. Our strong results help to prove that our approach of supporting our agents in all areas of their business so that they can always put their customer first works. As the economy continues to improve, customers are looking positively into 2014, but ultimately want to book their holiday with an agent they can trust and who can deliver a unique and highly personal service.”

At the beginning of the month the company also launched a major worldwide sales incentive with Travel Counsellors across the globe participating to win an amazing trip to St Lucia in the Caribbean. The ‘TC Treasures of the Caribbean’ saw 32 teams competing in the incentive, with agents winning ‘heats’ for their teams based on bookings made. The challenge proved a huge success and was a great way to encourage the company’s agents to succeed in the busy January month, whilst having fun and creating a strong sense of camaraderie across the worldwide network. The incentive also resulted in a sales boost in the company’s in-house dynamic packaging system, Phenix with bookings in January up 14% on last year.

The company has 1,300 agents all running their own businesses from home, with operations in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, South Africa, Australia, Canada and Dubai and a support team of over 250 staff. Global sales for the financial year end (31 October 2013) at A$713.7 million (£390m), an 11% increase on the previous year.
