Travel Counsellors launch special training initiatives ‘Cruise Focus’ for National Cruise Week

Melbourne based independent travel company, Travel Counsellors has launched a series of new training initiatives to celebrate National Cruise Week, and to be implemented throughout their three week ‘Cruise Focus’. 

The new initiatives are designed to provide bespoke training, support and expert advice on selling cruise holidays to its agents.

Tracy Parkinson, Country Manager at Travel Counsellors said: “Offering unparalleled, tailored, support to our agents is something we pride ourselves on.  We continually look for innovative ways to deliver this and wanted to ensure we made the most of National Cruise Week this year.  We already offer training on cruises, but we felt that by launching new initiatives we would help to build some excitement and encourage our Travel Counsellors to get involved.  In some cases it’s about confidence and everything we’re planning will do a lot to help this.”

The initiatives which Travel Counsellors will run in conjunction with National Cruise Week include a daily cruise training webcast featuring cruise operators, a tailored cruise e-card to send out to their clients, cruise selling tips and facts, hot offers plus a weekly cruise newsletter for their clients.

A number of cruise companies are working with Travel Counsellors to ensure a wealth of content and these include, Royal Caribbean, including Azamara Club & Celebrity Cruises, P&O, Seven Oceans, Carnival, Princess Cruises, Holland America, Avalon and APT.

Shane Gibbons, Business Partnership Manager at Carnival Cruise Lines Australia comments: “We are delighted to work with Travel Counsellors around National Cruise Week. We aim to support their agents to ensure they have all the material they need to confidently sell our products. We’re very excited about recording the webcast.”

Victorian based Travel Counsellor Rosemary said; “All the activity head office have planned around National Cruise Week is fantastic.  I’m really looking forward to getting involved and making the most of all the training to help me sell cruises.”

Commercial Team Leader, at Travel Counsellors, Jonathan Garrett highlights: “Cruise is growing rapidly as an option for Australian travelers; we have seen bookings increase by 77 per cent from 2011 to 2012 and a jump of 55 per cent from 2012 to 2013 year to date.”

Garrett added: “One of the many benefits of events like this is that it’s a great opportunity to strengthen supplier relationships and offer our agents direct access to these companies and their

latest training updates throughout September. Due to the positive response we’ve had from our agents, we plan to roll out more dedicated supplier training events in the coming months.”
