U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow issued the following statement commending the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and a diverse group of community leaders for presenting a plan to build a world-class transportation infrastructure network in Las Vegas:
“If it is too hard to get to a destination or too frustrating to get around it, people will take their travel spending elsewhere. That’s why the travel industry must be at the center of infrastructure planning discussions around the country.
“Travel contributes more than $50 billion to the Las Vegas economy and supports over 366,000 jobs—nearly half of all jobs in Southern Nevada. But underperforming travel infrastructure will undermine this economic support.
“I commend the leaders of Las Vegas for their vision on this issue. By undertaking a comprehensive and multi-stakeholder approach to transportation improvements, Las Vegas has provided a model for local travel infrastructure planning across the nation.
