Travel Texas, along with its key industry partners, have just rounded-up a three-city Roadshow tour Down Under, kicking things off in Auckland earlier in the week, followed by mid-week festivities in Brisbane and Sydney hosting the finale.

Following on from the success of Travel Texas’ previous roadshow, this year’s events were designed to provide an opportunity for agents to build one-on-one relationships with local operators, learn about new product and increase their knowledge of all Texas has to offer.

The travel agent events were educational, with the 250 agents learning more about the variety on offer in Texas, and one lucky winner in each city walking away with two return tickets from Sydney to Houston – courtesy of United Airlines. The prize also incorporated exciting stays and experiences across the state including Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Fredericksburg.

Tommy Woods, Economic Development and Tourism Marketing Specialist for Travel Texas said these industry events are crucial for providing frontline agents with the destination knowledge and vital tools to effectively sell and promote Texas, ultimately ensuring Australia continues to be a strong market for the Lone Star State.

“The Australian market is showing no signs of slowing down its visitation to the States, with many Aussies returning for their second or third visit; they’re now looking for a more authentic American experience in a diverse, less-explored location, and Texas provides exactly that,” Tommy said.

“Thanks to the new launch of United Airlines’ direct flight from Sydney to Houston, the most culturally diverse city in the United States – and also a key gateway to the rest of the state – it’s now faster and easier for Australians to visit Texas and explore its rich culture, culinary delights, and landscapes.”

Key industry partners that participated in the 2018 Roadshow include: Travel Texas, United Airlines, Visit Fort Worth, Visit Dallas, Visit Austin, Visit Houston, Houston Airports, Visit San Antonio, Fredericksburg CVB and Brand USA.
