Travelmarvel Delivers More of Europe in 2015

Following exceptional sales for its 2014 European river cruise product, Travelmarvel has unveiled an expanded program for 2015 that features two new ships, more than double the departures compared to 2014, 21 new Insider Experiences, new extended land journeys and hotels and a new Christmas cruise program.

Commenting on the growth of Travelmarvel’s European cruise and touring program, General Manager, David Cox, said, “Premium river cruise product enjoys a strong following amongst Australians and New Zealanders. And it’s this combination that is driving our success, enabling us to expand our program with new vessels, new sightseeing, land departures and cruises; and increased choice for our guests in terms of departure dates. New Ships

The Travelmarvel Sapphire debuts across a handful of dates in 2014 before joining the premium cruise and tour operators fleet in full service, sailing on European Gems itineraries between Amsterdam and Budapest and on Danube cruises, in 2015. Newly refurbished, it has capacity for 164 guests and features French Balconies on all category C staterooms and above, as well as a restaurant, bar and lounge, sundeck and beauty salon.

Also new for 2015 is the MS Excellence Queen. Built in 2010, it has been refurbished to include three lounges – the main lounge and bar, the Queen lounge and the Sky lounge; a sundeck and a restaurant. It has capacity for 142 guests and features 70 staterooms and one suite. This ship will sail exclusively for Travelmarvel on the Rhine river in 2015.

New Insider Experiences

Travelmarvel has introduced a total of 21 new Insider Experiences, including:

–       Drachensburg Castle – guests are invited to explore this impressive 19th century castle;

–       Private ‘Oktoberfest’ in Vilshofen – a special evening where guests enjoy share a traditional Bavarian ‘Oktoberfest’ with the locals;

–       Black Forest Experience – the chance to explore the Vogtbaurnhof Museum before sampling local Black Forest cake;

–       Nelahozeves Castle – a guided tour of this regal residence is followed by wine tasting and lunch;

–       Krakow – a special dinner including a local folklore show; and

–       Sorrento – share an authentic meal with a local family.

New Extended Land Journeys and hotels

–       Land Tours – 12 nights exploring Portugal and Spain with stays in Lisbon, Porto, Madrid, Seville, Valencia, Granada and Barcelona has been introduced; and a ten-night Ireland and Northern Ireland land journey, taking in Dublin, Cork, Killarney, Connemara, Londonderry and Belfast, has been included for 2015.

–       New hotels include: Ruthin Castle in Wales; NH Calderon in Barcelona; GLO Hotel Art in Helsinki; Les Jardin du Marais in Paris; and Hotel Alhambra Palace in Granada.


Travelmarvel has introduced a choice of four departures each for its new European Gems Paris to Prague or Prague to Paris itineraries offering guests the choice of eight sailings to enjoy the best of Europe’s festive features. Prices start from $6,595 per person twin share for an 15-day Amsterdam to Budapest itinerary.

Most popular itinerary

Travelmavel’s 15-day European Gems from Budapest to Amsterdam remains its most popular itinerary. For 2015, there is an additional 70 percent of available departures. Highlights include ‘Oktoberfest’ with the locals in Vilshofen; a visit to Drachensburg castle; the chance to stop at an old Schnapps distillery in Vienna for a tour and tasting; and sampling traditional coffee and cake at a local home in Wertheim. Priced from $5,995 per person, twin share, included is: 41 meals; all beverages during lunch and dinner; a Travelmarvel cruise director; transfers, port charges and all tipping.

Also new for 2015 are extended itineraries for the Danube – the 13- or 19-day Delightful Danube from Budapest to Prague; and the Rhine and Rhône – 21-day Splendours of the Rhine & Rhône (with either Paris, Nice or Barcelona) which covers France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Monaco and Spain. 

Earlybird Specials

Travelmarvel is offering a wide range of Earlybird Specials, including the chance to secure free flights for guests or their companions across the entire season. Travelmarvel is also waiving the solo supplement on all French Balcony suites (excluding Owner’s Suites) on its 15-day cruise itineraries departing 1 – 31 March and 29 September – 31 December 2015.
