Travelmarvel More Than Doubles Departures to South America

Interest in South America is growing at a rapid rate according to premium tour and cruise operator Travelmarvel, which today announced it will more than double departures to the region in 2015.

With its new brochure available in travel agencies from today, Travelmarvel General Manager, David Cox, said, “We’ve been operating in South America for three years, since which time demand for our product amongst Australians and New Zealanders has grown steadily. But in the last year interest has accelerated and so we’ve listened to feedback from our travel industry partners and increased departures by 125 percent for next year – introducing more tours, new cruise partners, a greater selection of sightseeing through our highly regarded Insider Experiences and more handpicked hotels in great locations, while still delivering exceptional value for money.”

The 52 page brochure features nine itineraries, offering a combined 15 additional departures for 2015. Highlights of the new program include:

New tours

  • For 2015, Travelmarvel is enabling guests to combine cruises around the Galapagos Islands with Amazon River Cruising, enabling guests the flexibility to include even more highlights into their trip. This is made possible through the32-day Highlights of South America with Galapagos and Amazon Cruise. Priced from $17,995 per person, twin share, guests travel from Santiago to Guayaquil via Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Iguassu Falls, Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco, Lake Titicaca and Quito. They then spend three nights cruising the Amazon aboard the MV Anakonda, and then four nights cruising the Galapagos Islands aboard the MV Santa Cruz.Coles-Training_250X250px
  • 34-day Highlights of South America and Chilean Fjord Cruise – priced from $12,295 per person, twin share, guests travel from Rio de Janeiro, via Iguassu Falls and Buenos Aires. Guests then board a 14 night Chilean Fjord cruise aboard Holland America Line’s ms Zaandam. The journey concludes with stops in Santiago, Lima, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco and Lake Titicaca.
  • 25-day Highlights of South America with Patagonia – priced from $12,295 per person, twin share, guests will explore the beautiful Patagonia region with a special three night all-inclusive stay at the award-winning Las Torres Hotel in the World-Heritage listed Torres del Paine National Park. As well as enjoying all meals, guests can also choose to explore by horseback, on foot or by vehicle. This is followed by two nights in El Calafate where guests can explore the Los Glaciares National Park, taking in the amazing Perito Moreno glacier, visiting the Glacarium museum and enjoying a drink at the ice bar.  

New Ships

Travelmarvel is using two new ships for its Galapagos and Amazon cruises as follows:

  • Galapagos – Travelmarvel has opted for the larger MV Santa Cruz for 2015 due to its increased capacity. Accommodating a maximum of 90 guests, the ship is air conditioned throughout and features a sundeck with bar and Jacuzzi, an observation platform for dolphin and whale watching, dining room, lounge and bar and a well stocked library as well as comfortable cabins, all with private ensuite. All cabins offer climate control and private bathrooms.
  • Amazon – Travelmarvel will use the boutique sized MV Anakonda in 2015 to take guests on a deluxe cruise of the world’s largest river system.  Operating in the Ecuadorian Amazon, each suite onboard offers 20 sq. meters worth of space, a private balcony, Jacuzzi and panoramic windows. Cruise highlights include guided rainforest hikes, canoe trips, and skiff boat trips to remote riverside communities.

Insider Experiences

Travelmarvel continues to offer a range of exciting Insider Experiences including, new for 2015, the chance to step into a world made of ice at the Glaciobar Branca in Argentina to enjoy a drink at -10°Celcius. Other Insider Experiences include: meeting the locals of the Sacred Valley and watching a weaving demonstration; visiting the home of a local Peruvian family for a traditional home-cooked lunch; travelling aboard the Vistadome train to World-Heritage-listed Machu Picchu; and a visit to the Sani Warmi Kichwa Interpretation Centre to learn about Amazonian lifestyles and customs.

Most popular itinerary

The 20-day Highlights of South America remains Travelmarvel’s most popular tour. Priced from $8,695, per person, twin share, guests travel from Santiago to Lima via Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Iguassu Falls, Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco and Lake Titicaca. Highlights include a tango show and a visit to Café Tortoni in Buenos Aires, a stay at the premium Sol y Luna Hotel in the Sacred Valley and the chance to cruise the reed islands of Lake Titicaca to meet the Uros people. Included is all flights in South America, a Travelmarvel Tour director and expert local guides, 29 meals, premium accommodation throughout and all tipping and airport transfers.
