Treasure Island Really Exists…

cats22Before traveling to U Koh Madsum Samui a little research unearthed the fact that the island on which the resort is located was discovered over 300 years ago by some unfortunate mariners who made it their refuge after being shipwrecked and marooned. How little did they realise that in the 21st Century the site of their salvation would become what I would simply describe as a real “Treasure Island”.

As part of the U chain of multiple award-winning international boutique and bijou hotels and resorts I knew my stay would be something that little bit special but even I was unprepared for what lay in store – utterly pampering perfection in my own little corner of paradise.

Stepping from the speedboat which had whisked me in a matter of minutes from the hectic hustle and bustle of neighboring Koh Samui to be greeted by the beaming smiles and warm welcome of the staff I took stock of my surroundings. A truly tropical luxury resort on one of Thailand’s last remaining unspoiled islands.

After a hassle-free check-in I was escorted to my beachfront pool villa where my initial first impression of paradise was confirmed. At over 90 sqm and exquisitely decorated my first temptation was to take a well earned nap but I was eager to discover every aspect of my unfortunately all too brief new home. A glance out of the window revealed a glistening private pool with direct access to my very own piece of sandy beach – heaven! My villa was as inspiring as the view, with a four-poster bed, Krups Nespresso machine and oversized bathtub among its many creature comforts.

After an invigorating rain shower I decided to explore all that U Koh Madsum had to offer. Strolling around the resort I was taken aback in the very best sense of the word by the utter serene tranquility of the place and with only 37 villas in the entire property I knew my privacy and relaxation were assured.

I decided to take a “well-earned break” by the stunning infinity pool beside the beach and with a perfectly mixed Mojito in hand gazed out at the distant horizon and racked my brain as to whether I had ever been as relaxed as this before in my life. My mind came up a blank.

That evening I dined at the resort’s “The Coral” restaurant and after greeting my fellow lucky castaways from the world outside dined on the most exquisite meal of Chef’s own Samui Seafood Bisque and grilled to perfection fresh seafood skewers over a pleasant glass of fine wine before retiring to a night of uninterrupted deep sleep nestled beneath crisp cotton sheets.

After a filling breakfast the next morning I decided to become a modern-day Robinson Crusoe and took a wander around the easily traversed on foot island where to my delight I discovered not one but two beaches, consisting of coral on one and sand on the latter. Sitting on the golden expanse with not another living being in sight I contemplated how I should spend my afternoon. A pampering treatment in the luxury spa or simply doing nothing by the pool losing myself in a good book? Decisions, decisions…

Of course, you may ask, luxury resorts abound in Thailand so what makes U Koh Madsum so very, very special? Well apart from the 24 hour use of room, breakfast whenever/wherever within the resort and pre-selected amenities such as a choice of soap scents there’s that little something that can be described in four or five simple words. A pure relaxing private escape.

Take the opportunity to experience this hidden escape, the special launch rate starts from just Baht 4,259+++ per room per night inclusive of U’s unique services of 24 hour use of room, breakfast whenever wherever, free wi-fi, free mini bar and more.
