According to the last three months of booking statistics just released from TrekAmerica, Canada is the country to beat in 2017. Up 27% year on year, both Western and Eastern Canada routes are proving really popular with the UK’s under 40, adventure travel market.

“Canada enjoys an enviable breadth of range from cosmopolitan cities by the sea to the purest wilderness. The country’s the perfect introduction to an adventurous life; amazing wildlife, stunning scenery plus a buzzing cultural offer, all wrapped up with a huge local welcome for international visitors and a favourable exchange rate” said Rich Hanson, MD of TrekAmerica.  “We have seen the destination grow and grow and we’re not in the least surprised by these latest figures”.

North America’s other great wilderness Alaska, is also seeing an upsurge in bookings – year on year up a stunning 36%.  Also proving a good idea is the Hawaii Big Island tour.  Since its introduction in 2016, this tour will offer 15 different departure dates in 2017.

Possibly the most interesting new trend to come from the statistics is the swing toward accommodation over camping.  The introduction of Plus tours, which offer twin share hotel accommodation, has proved highly successful, but also the Original tours which offer a choice of camping or budget lodging accommodation have seen the popularity of budget lodging based tours rise by about 25%, suggesting the new breed of adventurer favours their creature comforts.
