TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site*, today announced the appointment of Lew J. Harasymiw, Esq., director of connectivity solutions.

In this newly created role, Harasymiw will oversee product development for TripAdvisor Direct Connect Solutions, such as TripConnect, as part of the company’s commitment to delivering innovative interface solutions for booking engine partners.

TripConnect, launched in October 2013, allows small and independent accommodation businesses to participate in Hotel Price Comparison on TripAdvisor, via certified internet booking engines. Harasymiw will focus on building solutions for TripConnect booking engine partners, enabling independent hotels and B&Bs around the world to effectively compete for bookings on TripAdvisor.

Prior to joining TripAdvisor, Harasymiw was the director of interface solutions for Sabre Hospitality Solutions and has worked in the hospitality industry for 14 years. His experience includes designing and developing PMS integrations, OTA direct connects, booking engines, call centre applications and content management tools and was responsible for Sabre Hospitality Solutions’ Technology Partner Program. Harasymiw has also been actively involved, often in leadership positions, in key industry associations, such as the OpenTravel Alliance, Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG) and Hotel Electronic Distribution Network Association (HEDNA), working to promote industry standardisation and resolve connectivity challenges. His experience in implementing strategic partnerships and automation of industry leading booking sites and property systems will be instrumental in further developing TripConnect.

“Having worked in technology for over 17 years now, I’m pleased to be joining an innovative company like TripAdvisor that is developing technology solutions to help smaller accommodation businesses drive direct bookings,” said Harasymiw. “I am looking forward to working closely with our internet booking engine partners to provide the best, most efficient and comprehensive connectivity for the benefit of hoteliers and bed & breakfast owners.”

As of February 2014, over 200 internet booking engines are now certified TripConnect providers, through which over 65,000 hotels and B&Bs globally can now participate in Hotel Price Comparison, or meta search, on TripAdvisor. TripConnect has generated a lot of interest in Australia with a number of internet booking engines already certified as TripConnect partners, including SiteMinder, Resonline, Globekey Systems, V_Lesire, etc.
