TripAdvisor, the travel site that helps you find the latest reviews and lowest prices, has identified the world´s longest queues to get into popular attractions in destinations all over the globe, where travellers would have to wait in line for up to 4 hours during peak season to access. show travellers how to save time and avoid the queue, the travel site has highlighted bookable Skip the Line tours at those attractions with the longest lines and shares a list of the Top 10 Most booked Skip the Line tours in the world.

The longest queues should be expected in destinations such as Paris, The Vatican and Rome, London or New York, with an average wait of 2 hours (and up to 4 hours during peak season) to get into popular attractions such as the London Eye, The Eiffel tower, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. Travellers can save that time by booking the following Skip the Line tours and tickets.

London Eye = 2.5 hours

More than just a Ferris wheel ride, London Eye’s rotating attraction offers 32 enclosed capsules for full, 360 degree views of historic London. Travellers should expect to queue for up to 2.5 hours to access, but you can book the London Eye Skip the Line entrance on TripAdvisor for $54. Or, if you want to visit it in style, purchase the Skip-The-Line with champagne experience, to admire the impressive London skyline while enjoying a delicious Brut Royal Champagne for just $67.

User reviews:

–          CurtisJoeTravel: “The Eye is exactly what you expect – incredible 360 degree views of the city and all major attractions along the water. Has the perfect view of Big Ben and the parliament buildings, a great photo opportunity! We did this on our first day to get a sense of the city and where everything was located. Highly recommended, especially using the fast track ticket”.

–          UkGuy: “We booked the fast track which was very handy, and definitely recommended unless you want to stand around for ages. The ride itself lasts about 30 minutes and you can get some good views of London

Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museums = 2 hours

With more than five miles of corridors, this vast complex of museums chronicles the history and accomplishments of mankind over the last 2000 years, featuring classic masterpieces such as Rodin’s “Thinker” and the Sistine Chapel. Probably the most famous chapel in the world because of its incredible artwork, notably “The Last Judgment,” Michelangelo’s stunning fresco covering 10,000 square feet of the ceiling and wall. The most affordable and fastest option to visit both is with a self-guided priority access for $60 although it is recommended to hire a guided tour with an art expert, for around $107 who will be able to explain over 2,000 years of Roman history along the way. In fact, these are two of the most booked skip the lines tours in the world!

User reviews:

o   Scott W: “Thank goodness we booked the tickets with TripAdvisor before we went. It avoided the longest queues of our holidays!”

o   ClaudioY8: “Amazing history and ancient site, great architecture and sculptures. Make sure book your ticket in advance to avoid the long queue.”

o   Walter K: “Was a fantastic experience. Awesome art and history, well organized and memorable. We got our tickets on line inadvance and were very glad we did. The line to get in was massive and we were able to skip this line.”

Colosseum, Rome = 2 hours

Perhaps the best-preserved of the monuments of ancient Rome, this huge marble structure was built to hold more than 50,000 spectators to witness bloody contests of might and the slaughter of wild beasts. Skip the long line and access without time to waste with a self-guided priority access ticket, available on TripAdvisor for $45 or join one of the many guided tours you can find on the website starting from $35.

User reviews:

–          Johnny B: “I did a tour with City Wonders (thru Viator). They did a great job. It was a skip the line tour, which was great as there are long lines. The tour took us into places in the colosseum which are off limits to normal entrance, including the underground and the upper level. Must see in Rome. Spend a little extra for the skip the line tour, you will be grateful”.

–          JellyRollsKarenWe booked a tour so that we could skip the line. I was glad because not only did we get to skip the long line, we also got a lot of information about the history of the building and the gladiators. The building was amazing, just the size of it, and the fact that it is so well preserved is amazing. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip”.

Catacombs, Paris = 2 hours (up to 3-4 hours during summer)

A genuine labyrinth in the heart of underground Paris, the Catacombs were fitted out in the galleries of former quarries. Twenty metres underground, the ossuary houses the remains of approximately six million Parisians, gradually transferred between the end of the 18th century and the mid-19th century, as the capital’s cemeteries were closed for health reasons. Along a tangle of dark galleries, visitors discover a presentation of death with bones arranged in a romantic macabre decor. This unique site is a moving testimony to the history of Parisians and invites visitors on a timeless journey. You can purchase a skip the line admission ticket and tour for $122 or combine it with a priority visit to the Eiffel Tower.

User reviews:

–          Sian J: “Amazing experience and well worth a visit, but somewhat dampened by the 3 hour queue (we visited on a Saturday outside of school holidays). Would definitely recommend but only if you pre book”.

–          Anne V: “We visited the catacombs three years ago and waited for three hours to get inside (only 200 people are allowed into the catacombs at a time). This time around we took my mum and certainly didn’t want to do that again so we pre-booked tickets. We really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to all visitors to Paris. Just remember it is cool underground so bring a jacket if visiting during the summer.”

–          – Michael255: “The Catacombs are full of history and a great place to visit in Paris to contrast against the usual haunts of the Eiffel Tower or the art museums. I would strongly advise anyone who visits during peak tourist season to pre-book their ticket online, otherwise you will have to join the line which stretches right around the block and wait for several hours. You have been warned!”

Eiffel Tower, Paris = 2 hours

Completed in 1889 by architect Alexandre Eiffel, this colossal landmark of 300 metres height, although initially hated by many Parisians, is now a famous symbol of French civic pride. Prepare to marvel at the romantic and stunning sights of the city of Paris at your feet… but don´t forget to book a skip the line admission, as queues are notoriously long! You can combine your visit with other landmarks purchasing tour packs like this Skip the Line in Eiffel Tower with a Seine River cruise and Paris City tour for $107, or book a skip the line tour with guide on TripAdvisor for as little as $53. If you want true VIP treatment, check out this Eiffel Tower 4 course gourmet dinner with champagne and Trocadero view seating, for $358.

User reviews:

–          LisaLJB: “I booked the skip the line option before getting to Paris as my 1st visit to the city we did not and the queues were bad. The queues where still very long and in the heat the skip the line was so worth it”.

–          Agman N: “We came with skip the line arrangement, and it was the best decision since it’s summer and thousands of tourists queue just to get up to the one of the most visited attraction in the world. See all of Paris and spend as much as your time to enjoy the marvel of it”.

St. Peter´s BasilicaVatican City = 1.5 hours

One of the most famous Cathedrals in the world, St. Peter’s is the spiritual centre of the Vatican and the product of many of Italy’s great Renaissance’s architects, among them Bramante, Raphael and Michelangelo. –          Travis K: “The Skip the Line: St Peter’s Basilica Walking Tour Including Views from the Top of the Dome was Amazing! I would highly recommend taking this tour! Not only do you get to learn about the Church’s rich history from a small group tour guide, you will also get to climb the cupola and have breath-taking views of all of Rome”.

Tower of London = 1.5 hours

User reviews:

–          Landman142: “We chose the skip the line tour for the Tower of London and changing of the guards (“Beefeaters”). It was great as we saw the change up close and then proceeded to the Crown Jewels exhibit before the general public had access.”

–          EvelynHamilton: “Buy tickets online and skip the line. There is much to see here, including a free yeoman tour. Crown jewels – wow!”

Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam = 1.5 hours

Bubble rating: 4.5- Travellers´ Choice 2017

User reviews:

–          Cam21G: “Make sure you pre-book or prepare for a long wait, not as long as Anne Frank House but still 1hour and 30mins. The museum is beautiful, some people inside are very annoying taking photos when you’re not allowed, such a beautiful way of telling a story. Worth a visit on a trip to Amsterdam”.

–          CRSKI: “I love this museum; I encourage you to book your tickets online. It’s the better way, you skip the line and get there at a specific time. Enjoy!”

Empire State Building, New York = 1.5 hours

The world-famous skyscraper offers unobstructed panoramic views of New York City from the 86th and 102nd floor Observation Decks – the two highest vantage points in the city. Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan from base to antenna, travellers can see up to five states on a clear day – New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The busiest time to go is around sunset, so travellers can book the Empire State Building Tickets – Observatory and Optional Skip the Line Tickets on TripAdvisor from $44 per person.

User reviews:

–          LaShelleCargil: “If you can, buy the tickets online beforehand…skipping most of the lines made for a very enjoyable trip. The views are amazing, the history is amazing…yep, it’s amazing!”

–          Ric and Chris: “Great views and purchasing online before meant no lines. We felt we could spend as much time as we wanted looking at the views, not worried about how long it would take us to get out of the building to make our dinner reservations. The views are breathtaking and going before sunset allowed us to see the best of both worlds. So pretty before and after sunset. A must do in NYC”

Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris = 1 hour (up to 2 hrs to visit the towers)

This famous cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture on which construction began in the 12th century, stands on the Île de la Cité and is the symbolic heart of the city. Skip the notoriously long lines for $53 with this skip the line tour of Notre Dame Cathedral Towers, enjoying up-close views of the chimera gallery, including gargoyles, monkey monsters, an elephant, a griffin and birds that keep watch over the streets of Paris below.

Bubble rating: 4.5- Travellers´ Choice 2017

User reviews:

–          Michele F: “Getting into the cathedral was fairly fast, despite the winding queue. However, the queue to the top of the tower was ridiculous and you only have 5 min before they escort you out for the next group. Make sure you have eaten and have been to the bathroom before jumping in the queue. All up we spent 3 hours here, mostly waiting in line”.

–          BerbieMega: “The Cathedral itself is stunning in so many ways…Apart from views over Paris, you’ll also see the famous gargoyles that each have their own expression and design. Really fun experience but be prepared for the queues as it’s VERY popular indeed. We waited 2 hours and in the winter it’s freezing”.
