TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site*, today announced its Travellers’ Choice™  Awards for restaurants around the world with Melbourne’s Vue De Monde awarded top spot for Australia. This year’s awards honour 356 restaurants in total, including the top 25 in the world and dedicated lists for Asia, Canada, Europe, India, South America, South Pacific, the U.K. and the U.S. The awards are based on the millions of valuable reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide.1

“Vue de Monde is thrilled to be awarded number one in Australia for the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Restaurant awards,” said Shannon Bennett, Head Chef of Vue de Monde said, “For us, not only does it give a true indication of how our customers feel about the experience we offer but also what we need to do to keep improving and striving to exceed our customers’ expectations.”http://www.centarahotelsresorts.com/b2b/TravelIndustry.asp?utm_source=eglobal&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=eglobal-b2b&FBTrack=CUST-B2BINDUSTRY

“We tapped the TripAdvisor community to help us serve up the top fine-dining restaurants around the globe because an exceptional dining experience can be the highlight of a trip or a special occasion,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. “These elite dining establishments have earned the highest praise from travelers for their remarkable cuisine and commitment to service. As a special bonus, we have asked the chefs of these top-rated restaurants to share recipes with our community so that if you can’t dine at the restaurant anytime soon, you can travel with your taste buds and make some of their dishes at home.”

The site also shared Australian food-related travel trends in a gastronomic survey it ran, showing how popular dining out is amongst Australians and how adventurous Australians are getting with food-related travel. According to a TripAdvisor survey with 8,000 respondents, 50% of Australians say they dine out at least once a week, with more than 53% of Australians opting for fine and moderately upscale dining experiences when eating out locally. Given Australians’ love for food, 30% say they have planned a gastronomic getaway to a destination to try its local cuisine, with 27% who say they have planned such trips to eat at a specific restaurant.

TripAdvisor is also giving Australian travellers a taste of the award winners with a collection of popular recipes from select restaurants now available online.
