Tropical Tablelands Tourism (TTT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ).

The MOU formalises the working relationship between TTT and TTNQ.

TTT Chair and Member for Barron River Michael Trout said the MOU acknowledged the important role of TTT as the local tourism organisation on the Atherton Tablelands and established a framework for better collaboration.

“Under this MOU, TTT will be required to meet key performance indicators that are determined together with TTNQ. These will be decided in the coming weeks.”

He said 2012/2013 had been milestone year for TTT with a number of key projects coming to fruition.

These include a new fully integrated website, the Drive North Queensland smart phone app, Avis Drive Campaign and newly re-designed Discover visitor guide.

However, Mr Trout said he was looking forward to adding to these achievements under this new agreement.

“This MOU highlights the importance of local tourism organisations. Leadership is fundamental to the delivery of sustainable tourism.

“Regional and local tourism organisations are well positioned to provide leadership to the rest of the tourism industry,” he said.
